When you are working in company or anywhere and you open and close files from a shared location like a file server, you may encountered the error “file locked for editing by …” .
If you have rights on the shared location or the server you need to do some stuff on it .
First you need to navigate to control panel’s server/ computer management / shared folders / open files or run fsmgmt.msc .
After that you need to go to the location where the file is located and to right click on all open affected file (it may be opened by many users) and to click CLOSE .
After that everything should be ok . Repeat the step every time it happens .
It is unknown what is really happening, but on a big network this error happens all the time .
